Ed eccoci qua  ad  affrontare  il  primo anno nuovo insieme.
Non sopporto la retorica, le  frasi  di  circostanza,  ecc..
pero'  un piccolo bilancio mi sento in dovere di farlo.  Nel
Maggio  dello  scorso  anno  e'  cominciata  l'avventura, la
scommessa di DADA.  Quando s'iniziano progetti del genere e'
pressoche'  impossibile  stabilire,  o   meglio   prevedere,
l'interesse  che si riuscira' a suscitare, il seguito che si
avra',  per  non  parlare   della  durata  che  il  progetto
riuscira' ad avere.  Fin dall'inizio abbiamo  preferito  non
essere troppo presuntuosi e da quella considerazione e' nata
la  scelta  della  diffusione  bimestrale.   Scelta derivata
anche dal non dovere essere costretti ad accettare tutto per
mancanza di materiale.  Ci piace scegliere!  In questo mondo
in cui  le  proposte  di  scarso  valore estetico abbondano,
abbiamo preferito concederci un po' di  tempo  per  leggere,
valutare,  scegliere.   E crediamo che DADA nei suoi quattro
numeri di breve esistenza  sia migliorata anche sotto questo
profilo.  E la qualita' del materiale proposto  sara'  anche
in  futuro  uno  dei  criteri su cui maggiormente punteremo.
Intendiamoci, nessuno pretende che tutti siano degli Umberto
Eco e non  vogliamo  assolutamente  dimenticare  che DADA e'
nata soprattutto per dare spazio alle persone come  noi  che
amano  svisceratamente scrivere e leggere.  E questo noi non
lo rinnegheremo affatto,  solo  cercheremo di tutelare anche
il lettore da materiale onestamente privo di alcun valore.

I  contenuti.   Anche  qui  non  ci  eravamo  posti  limiti:
letteratura,  teatro,  cinema,  televisione,  musica,  tutto
sarebbe stato ben accetto.  Ci siamo poi resi conto  che  la
maggior  parte  del  materiale  che  ci  veniva  inviato era
composto da poesie e racconti a scapito degli altri settori.
Poco male la cosa non ci dispiace, ma anche qui non vorremmo
precluderci a  priori  gli  altri  importanti  aspetti della
cultura  contemporanea.   Ci  piacerebbe  soprattutto  avere
qualche corrispondente sia italiano che straniero  in  grado
di  fornirci  con una certa continuita' articoli ed opinioni
in campo musicale e cinematografico. Insomma vedete di darvi
da fare ;-)).

La diffusione.  Beh, qui DADA ha  fatto  passi  da  gigante!
Non  credo  esistano  in  circolazione  molte  e-zine che si
possano permettere il lusso di avere tre formati (Dos, Amiga
e Mac) piu' quello HTML  per  la rete Internet.  E da questo
numero s'iniziera' anche una collaborazione con  la  rivista
"cartacea" Inchiostro con cui avverranno scambi di materiale
e  opinioni.   Tutto  questo  e' stato reso possibile per il
grande impegno dei redattori e collaboratori, nonche' amici,
di DADA  che  voglio,  in  questa  occasione, ringraziare di
cuore.

Gli obiettivi.  Beh, la cosa che al momento ci preme di piu'
e' quella di  uscire  dai  limiti  e  vincoli  della  lingua
italiana.   Non  che non ci piaccia, solo preferiamo pensare
che la comunicazione e l'arte  in generale non debbano avere
barriere e costrizioni di alcun genere.  Gia'  dagli  ultimi
numeri  qualche  passo  in  questa  direzione  si  e' fatto.
Grazie all'impegno dell'amico  Vittorio  Curtoni che diventa
da  oggi  Responsabile  del  Settore  Estero  (trovati   una
definizione  migliore  ;-))  ) sono aumentati notevolmente i
collaboratori in  lingua  inglese.   Il  nostro obiettivo e'
quello di arrivare ad avere meta' del materiale in  italiano
e   meta'  in  inglese  (anche  se  non  ci  dispiacerebbero
contributi in altre lingue).

Insomma grazie a  tutti  voi,  e  naturalmente  a  me che mi
faccio due balle cosi' a leggere tutto il materiale ;-)))  e
a coordinare il tutto (n.d.a.  scusate se non rispondo quasi
mai troppo in fretta, ma il tempo e' quello che e') DADA sta
crescendo  notevolmente.   Dove  vogliamo arrivare?  Beh, la
cosa non c'interessa piu'  di  tanto  a dire il vero.  Credo
che gia' mantenere la passione e l'impegno  attuali  sarebbe
un buon risultato, non vi pare?

Here we are, face to face  with the first new year together.
I can't stand rhetoric, stereotyped expressions, etc., but I
feel I have to draw  a  small  balance.  In May of last year
the adventure began, the DADA bet.  When one starts projects
like that it is almost impossible  to  know,  or  rather  to
anticipate,  the  amount  of  interest  one  can elicit, the
following one can have, not  to  speak of the life itself of
the project.  From the start we chose not  to  be  too  much
over-confident,  and  that's  why  we  opted for a bimonthly
interval.  A choice also due to  the desire of not having to
accept everything for lack of material.  We like to  choose!
In a world where proposals of scanty aesthetic value abound,
we preferred to give ourselves time to read, to appraise, to
choose.   And  we think that DADA, in the four issues of its
short existence, has grown better  in this respect too.  And
the quality of our material is going to be in  future  times
too  one  of  the  most  important principles.  Of course we
don't demand that anybody be  a  sort of Umberto Eco, nor do
we wish to forget that DADA was created chiefly to make room
for people who like us like writing and  reading  heart  and
soul.   We won't deny the idea; we'll just try to shield the
reader from material devoid of value.

The contents.  Here  too  we  din't  set limits: literature,
theatre, the movies,  television,  music,  everything  would
have  been  well accepted.  We later found out that material
sent to us was for the most part composed of stories, to the
detriment of other fields.   No  harm, we're not sorry about
it, but we don't want to  block  a  priori  other  important
aspects of contemporary culture.  We'd be especially glad to
have  contributors,  in  Italy and abroad, who can send with
some  regularity  articles  and  opinions  about  music  and
movies.  Well, start doing something!  ;-))

The diffusion.  Well, here DADA  has made great progress!  I
don't believe there are many e-zines  that  can  afford  the
luxury of three formats (Dos, Amiga and Mac), as well as the
HTML   format   for   Internet.    And  with  this  issue  a
collaboration  also  begins   with   the  "papery"  magazine
"Inchiostro" ("Ink"); we'll have an  exchange  of  materials
and  opinions.   All  of  this has been made possible by the
strong commitment of editors and contributors and friends of
DADA, all of whom I sincerely thank taking advantage of this
occasion.

The objectives.   The  most  important  thing  to  us at the
moment is to break free from the limits and bonds of Italian
language.  Not that we don't like Italian, but we think that
communication and  the  arts  in  general  should  not  have
barriers  or constraints.  A few steps have alredy been made
in our latest issues.  Thanks  to the commitment of Vittorio
Curtoni, who officially becomes the person in charge of  our
Foreign  Sector,  there's  been  a  remarkable  increase  of
Anglophone  contributors.   Our objective is to have half of
our material in English  language  and half in Italian (even
though we'd like contributions from other languages too).

In short, thanks to all of you, and of course to me, since I
break  my  balls  reading  the  whole  material   ;-))   and
coordinating the magazine (please excuse me if I'm never too
quick  with  my  answers,  bu my time is what it is) DADA is
remarkably growing.  What do we  want to reach?  To tell the
truth, we are not terribly interested in  this.   I  believe
that  keeping up the current passion and commitment would be
a good outcome, don't you think?
